Habayeb - Nawa Group for Arab Music
Habayeb (Our Beloved) is the name of a musical piece of the late composer Rawhi Al Khammash.
The Palestinian Association for Cultural Development Nawa was founded nine years ago. The Association works on collecting as much as possible of sound recordings, musical notations, documents and pictures Of Palestinian musicians in order to return them to Palestine. They have been conducting dozens of interviews with the children, families and friends of these creators. We have a long and arduous journey to complete our collection, archive the material and present it to the public in live performances in an attempt to protect our collective memory of the real development of art in our country.
In its endeavour of reviving the compositions of creative Palestinian musicians, Nawa released three albums. The first, Huna Alquds 1, was for the late Rawhi Al Khammash, who lived in diaspora in Iraq. The second edition of the album, Huna Alquds 2, was released in 2015 and includes a collection of Mohammad Ghazi’s songs, the lead singer of Huna Alquds Radio Broadcast. In addition, the Association released its third edition of the album, Huna Alquds 3, for the musicians Rawhi al Khammash, Riyad Al Bandak and Abdel Kareem Qazmouz.
